What You’ll Find at Automatica: A Playground of Robots and Innovation

Automatica lives up to its reputation as the world’s leading trade fair for smart automation and robotics. In the 2025 edition, over 1,000 robots were showcased across the exhibition halls. From towering industrial arms by global players like KUKA and ABB, to specialized solutions from companies like DH Robotics, which presented high-precision electric grippers for small and delicate part handling.

But robots weren't the only stars of the show. Machine Vision played a crucial role, highlighting the importance of enabling machines to perceive and understand their environment. Phil-Vision demonstrated high-speed inspection systems, while OpenArgos focused on 3D vision technologies that help robots adapt to dynamic and complex settings with remarkable precision.

Robot passing by the Pozyx Booth at Automatica 2025

In this landscape of movement and perception, Pozyx adds a third essential layer: location. With real-time positioning down to 10 centimeters, Pozyx brings spatial awareness to mobile robots, assets, and people. This bridges the gap between the digital and physical worlds. By integrating seamlessly with AGVs, AMRs, and automation software, Pozyx enables truly responsive and context-aware systems, making it a natural fit among the cutting-edge innovations on display at Automatica.

Automation through Geofencing and the Pozyx Rule Engine

Pozyx’s booth centered on automation driven by geofencing. Not just as a visualization tool, but as a trigger for real-time actions on the shop floor. With centimeter-level accuracy, our system defines virtual zones that interact with physical assets in real time.

Visitors experienced how our rule engine enables contextual automation: alerts when assets move out of bounds, automatic switching of machine states when a forklift enters a zone, or lights and signals triggered when people approach restricted areas. These aren’t theoretical ideas — they were live demos with tangible results.

RTLS Meets AGVs, AMRs, and Humanoid Robots

One of the recurring themes during Automatica was the growing need to synchronize AGVs, AMRs, and robots within dynamic environments. Many robotics manufacturers are facing challenges when relying solely on SLAM or LIDAR. Pozyx fills this gap by offering an “absolute positioning layer” that can serve as a source of truth across systems and fleets.

Robotics developers appreciated how Pozyx RTLS integrates easily with existing control systems to enable mixed-fleet coordination, improve safety, and accelerate localization in repetitive environments.

Smart Label Printer Demo

Our smart label printer demo was a hit with visitors from logistics and manufacturing alike. The concept is simple but powerful: print a trackable label on the spot and follow its journey in real time. By combining BLE tracking and RFID, each label acts as a smart object that can be used for WIP tracking, inventory control, or automated material handling.

The demo showcased how labels printed just seconds earlier could be visualized live on a map, triggering rules as they moved between zones and simulating real production workflows.

Conclusion: A Shared Drive Toward Intelligent Automation

At Automatica, Pozyx focused on live demonstrations of real-time automation powered by accurate location data. But beyond our own booth, what stood out was the collective momentum among exhibitors to push industrial innovation forward. From robotics and mobility to advanced control systems, the event showcased how the entire ecosystem is working toward smarter, more connected operations.

According to THB Bearings, one of the many international exhibitors at the fair, "Automatica continues to be a top-tier exhibition, not just for showcasing products but for meeting qualified leads, potential partners, and global decision-makers."

We left the event inspired and more committed than ever to bringing location-based automation to life. Whether it involves synchronizing autonomous vehicles or turning labels into smart, trackable assets, Pozyx is proud to contribute to a future where real-time location technology plays a central role in industrial transformation.
